How to reset your Ipod if it freezes!

Ahoy!

Today while enjoying my Ipod, it decided to freeze up on me completely. Thinking the thing was broken, I was kind of annoyed. I got home and realized… Hey… this probably happens all the time! Let’s check the wonderful world that is the Internet!

So I search “Ipod Froze” in Google. Apple actually has a page set up on their website telling you what to do if your Ipod should freeze. So here you have it…. straight from the developer:

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including:

* Fifth Generation iPod (aka iPod video)

* iPod nano (2nd gen)

* iPod nano

* iPod (iPod photo)

* iPod (Click Wheel)

* iPod mini

* iPod mini (2nd gen

1. Slide the hold switch on and off.

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn’t set to go to sleep.

Some settings may be lost when you reset your pod… but the songs will remain there.

I hope this was helpful!

What IS an ipod? Part 7: The Fifth Generation of Awesomeness

September 2006 saw the birth of the most amazing ipod yet. The ipod video. The big daddy. The king. This folks, is the reason I made this blog.

This ipod has audio AND video capabilities. The Hard drive comes in 30gb, 60gb and 80gb. For those who think it's impossible to fill up an 80gb ipod? I beg to differ :)

This ipod comes in Black or White. For any music lovers out there, I recommend getting one of these bad boys.

What IS an ipod? Part 6: The Minis 2

February 2005 saw the birth of the second generation ipod mini. It also saw the loss of the colour gold as an option, but gained 10 hours of battery time. That's right! The 2nd gen mini's battery life got amped up to 18 hours. So much life for such a small device!

This version of the mini had a 4gb and 6gb hard drive, whereas the 1st gen only had a 4 gb option.

2004 also saw the birth of the ipod mini. Being built out of aluminum, this ipod was much lighter than it's predecessors. It was also the first ipod to incorporate the click wheel feature seen on newer generations of the ipod.

This ipod is also the first to come in different colours: green, silver, blue, pink, and gold.

Seemingly being the first to have all the advanced technology, it was ALSO the first to be able to use a USB Cable to sync and charge. This ipod had a 8 hour battery life.

What IS an ipod? Part 4: Hello, Click Wheel.

With technology advancing at a rapid pace, Apple discovered a new way for users to navigate through their playlists and settings by taking away the buttons under the display and adding a click wheel.

The ipods, being the most efficient in terms of battery power, lasted 12 whole hours! The 3rd gen was 8 hours and the 2nd and 1st were 10(They had a bigger battery than the 3rd gen). They even managed to make this generation THINNER than the 3rd. It was released in July of 2004.

What IS an ipod? Part 3: Under the display buttons

The growing popularity of the ipod forced Apple to go back to the drawing boards and try and come out with something new for their ever so popular Apple ipod.

The 3rd Gen ipods are the most different looking of them all(not counting the 4th and 5th gen of course). It had four buttons under the display, rather than having the buttons circling the click wheel.

The memory for these pods were 15gb and 30gb. Later bumped up to 20gb and 40gb.

These new ipods also had a smaller battery life in order to make the battery smaller, thus making the ipod thinner. This gen ipod also had a different port for synching and charging it up. It was Firewire and USB compatible for the first time.

This model is also the first to be universally usable by Macs AND PCs. The release date for the 3rd gen ipod was April 2003.

What IS an ipod? Part 2: The Next Generation

After the success of the original first generation ipod, there came a demand for a more updated version. Thus, the second generation ipod was born in July of 2002.

This model looks identical to the first generation model with ONE difference major physical difference. It had a touch wheel rather than a spinning wheel.

With this model of the ipod, you had the choice of a 10gb hard drive or a 20gb hard drive. This was just the start of the mass storage system that became the fifth generation ipod. This one, like the first generation, had a 10 hour battery life.

What IS an ipod? Part 1

Ipod. What is it? Aside from completely amazing?

In this humble blogger's opinion, it is the greatest mp3/video player on the market today. This neat little gadget has gone through many stages... and with each release, it just keeps getting better.

Let's start way back in October of 2001. The first generation ipods were released and instantly became a hit. The main physical difference with the first gen ipods is the click wheel. On this one, it actually spins, rather than being soft rubber that you motion your finger around in a circle to use. It also had four buttons located around the wheel. It did not have a colour screen. It had a memory size of 5gb. Now that doesn't seem like much now that we have those big beautiful 80gb pods... but at the time it was freakin' amazing.

In March of 2002, they expanded the memory to 10gb. This was just the start.

Welcome to the Ipod Spot!

I have created this blog specifically for lovers of the almighty Apple Ipod! I do not work for Apple myself. Just an admirer of their work. I hope to keep the most up to date information on Apple's revolutionary portable jukebox. Comments are always appreciated!
